Now don’t get me wrong, people who dedicate their lives to helping animals are to be commended. However it all comes at a price.

On Tuesday I noticed my cat was not doing well at all, so I brought it to the vet. The cat was not eating, drinking and urinating a lot, and moving slowly. These are all signs of diabetes. Now I’m not doctor so I can’t just guess that, instead I pay 300 bucks for the vet to tell me the same thing and also 80 bucks for her insulin, which needs a prescription so there’s no getting around a vet visit.

The 300 bucks included a demonstration of how to administer it and then the Doctor said I have to prove to them that I can do it. I am 38 years old, in no other situation do I pay someone 300 bucks and then have to prove something to them, but there I was trying to show them that I’m capable of giving a needle to my cat. So I prove to them that I can.

I have a job as well I entertain people, you never have to pay me 300 bucks and then I turn around and say now that I entertained you, you have to prove to me that you can tell a joke.

The cat is doing better.

I am really tired of these movies portraying the eighties as good time. The eighties sucked. it was a time where consumerism was at its peak. Polo shirts cost an arm and a leg but if you were caught wearing a shirt with an alligator on it forget it. Big hair was out of control and it costs you hair spray, hair gel and hair mousse, who the hell ever uses hair mousse anymore.

TV was bad with A-team, Magnum P.I., Riptide, Knight Rider, the list goes on, every show the villains were either Ninjas or Russians and yet there were never any russian ninjas. Not that today is a lot better but at least we all learned from C.S.I., to wear gloves if we ever want to kill someone.

It’s simply a decade that needed to end and thank god it did, now stop making movies about it.

I use to be a fan of M. Night, I enjoyed all of his films until I watched “The happening”. We began with “Sixth Sense” some said of it was obvious some were surprised one thing he use to do was first make a good film and then have a surprise at the end. Also a good surprise ca not be impossible for the viewer to figure out.

He followed it up with Unbreakable (my favorite), Signs and The village. All good films and even though I sometimes felt like they were just Twilight Zone episode they were good episodes. Next up he did “Lady in the water”. Now I still liked this film even though it wasn’t his usual genre.

Then I watched “The Happening”. It was like watching a low-budget first time director horror film. It had no big twist or any real plot. It seems that maybe he didn’t have a twist at the end because we all expected one, we all expected one because he use to be good at them.

He next film is “Airbender” which I can not review because I have not seen it, but I’m not rushing out and watching it in the theatres like I use to.

Once again Hollywood is out of ideas so they take an old movie and make it into a tv show. The film stars Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier, directed by Stanley Kubrick and made in 1960. So why would they ever make a show about it. Simple, ever since Xena and hercules stopped and now that Lord of the Rings is passed New Zealand has a bunch of trained stuntmen and toy swords lying around, so bango Spartacus the tv show.

Here’s my problem with all of it, first up the music, yes that’s right the music. Spartacus takes place during the Roman Empire and the film stayed true to that, the tv show however has modern music right when two gladiators are about to face off in the ring electric guitars are playing next to a drum machine. Why? Nothing takes me out of a scene like non authentic music.

Next up the swearing. Now I’m no prude language is an important part of believable dialogue, in the film Spartacus asked where wind comes from, his answer a small cave high up on the mountains. Which was acurate, this show has it’s gladiator using the F-word and the C-word in every other sentense. Clearly they are just trying to grab the 18 to 25 year old viewer and not care about anything else.

What’s next? A tv show about “Gone with the Wind”, Frankly my dear F-off.

You’re all thinking “What?”. Well in the early nineties George Lucas made two seasons of a Young Indy. Well the first season was slow-moving so the second season they had Indy in World War One.

I just started watching the box set of the episodes and while the episodes themselves are hit and miss the extras on the DVD’s are amazing. they say that no film has ever really capture the first war. The DVD’s each have 3 documentaries about different parts of the war. I enjoy history but I didn’t know the many details surrounding the War. Through the docs. I have learned a lot, W.W. 1 was a very brutal campaign. The french lost over a million soldiers which is more than the americans lost in W.W. 1 and W.W. 2 combined.

They also have many docs. about the war in africa and how the germans were the first to use African troops, what? that’s what I said. In each episode Young Indy comes across all these historical figures and then the special features explains their real life. Fore anyone interested in W.W. 1 this is a must see.

I wouldn’t call me a big fan I however was a viewer of lost. The show is now over and I am glad. It seems to me that the show lasted two seasons to long, the show left to many questions. If you watch the show know that some of the characters were left out of the final episode.

Now of course there is the problem of getting the actors back, but we never saw what happend to Walt and his father. Mr. Echo was never heard from again. It seems that all they did was a survey of the popular characters and featured them. When the show first started all the children were the first to get napped my “The Others”. Why was that? Because they can’t have babies in purgatory? One of many ideas never explained.

I’m sorry to sound like an old man but the best show on tv was “Mash”, just watch the last episode and you’ll see.

Yes I know he’s had personal problems and for that I’m sorry but let’s blame his Agent on all this.

Liam has had a very long career, starting off in 1978 with some british tv and even a few films, like Krull and Excalibur. Then moving to L.A. he was in some more tv and was featured in a few bad films, like Darkman, Satisfaction and Next of Kin. Now despite being poor films he was still good in them. The when opportunity knocked he took it. He played Oscar Schindler, in Schindler’s list. Which was a great film, Oscar nominated for best Actor. Proving it was no fluke Liam followed it up with great films like Rob Roy and Michael Collins. Now, an actor who worked hard was getting his roles.

But what happened, his last two films are Clash of the Titans and A-Team the damn A-Team. I use to do a joke about how that’s one show that’ll never get remade into a film. Wrong. How does this happen are there no good scripts or is this the game one has to play in hollywood you have to do the A-team movies to get the meaty rolls. Let’s hope that’s all that this is.
